What makes your world go round?
Appreciating the richness and beauty of different cultures, and what they have to offer in the arts. That is one of the things that make the world go round.
How long have you been involved in the arts? What type?
I’ve always loved to draw, paint, sing, and act when I was a kid. I have also been writing music. Dance was later on introduced to me when I went to college in 2009, and that’s when I realized that I need to have dance to fill in the gap and to make me a full-functioning human being. Music itself, I thought, is already a beautiful creation. However, if you allow the human body to simply dance with it, that additional layer is what makes it visually satisfying or if not, it leaves you asking for more.
What do you like most about your craft(s)?
What I like the most about my crafts is that there is always room for improvement. It always reminds me to never be stagnant as an artist: always explore. Imperfection makes anything look interesting anyway.
Famous artist/historical figure/celebrity (or a few) you love and model yourself after
Lady Gaga
Hometown
Born in the Philippines, and now lives in Anaheim, Ca.
What inspires you to create?
What inspires me to create is primarily deep emotional connection into a particular subject. I can pull more out of myself when I am emotionally invested. Also, I get inspired by just watching other artists, and how they show their love for the arts.
Ultimate life goal
My ultimate life goal is to have my own dance company, but my ultimate dream is to have an arts building named after me. I hope to leave a legacy that represents me as an artist, and also my Filipino heritage.
What most surprised you most about THE THREAD 2013?
What most surprised me about THE THREAD 2013 is that you meet random people for the first time, and you feel that there is already that wonderful force that pulls you in together to create something so stunning.
